Update on our construction: We started putting up the north wall Sunday afternoon and will try to finish it this evening. Hopefully we will also start getting the boards up on the south wall so that the masons can come finish out the chimney and repair the rock wall where the new walls attach to the old ones. I’m not sure how long it takes for it to cure before we can start a fire, but I know Kristina and most of the rest of the family enjoy having a fire after Thanksgiving dinner.
Under way again
We’re still here.
Well, it’s been a while since we updated the site. In essence construction has come to a halt for the moment. Some friends were supposed to come help with construcation last weekend, but that didn’t work out for some reason. We’ve spent the last couple weekends cleaning up the yard and there’s still a little left to do. In the last few weeks our trees have lost most of their leaves and the ground was covered. We mulched the leaves with Rick’s chipper and I think we’ve almost doubled the size of his compost. We picked up all the stray pieces of wood and things from the construction mess. With the time change, it’s now dark by the time we get home, so nothing gets done in the evenings. Next weekend we’ll finish up the area by the north gate and under the new porch. Maybe we’ll even find time to organize the tools. Then we should be ready to start in again on trying to get walls up on the 22nd. So much for hoping to be dried in by Thanksgiving - maybe we’ll make it by Christmas.
We tried going back to Stillwater to trick or treat, but that was a flop and Kris came down with the stomach virus before we got home. I caught it on Monday and by Monday evening I was in urgent care getting IV fluids pumped into me. I was pretty much out for the rest of that week. We finally carved our pumpkin last weekend, but we put a turkey in it since it’s now November.
Dance Videos
So, after many, many months, I’ve finally figured out how to post the video from Kristina’s Dance Recital on our Bog.
Well, it was another 4 day weekend for us. Thank goodness for my dad. Thing go so much faster when he comes to help. Friday we ripped off all the shingles on the east side of the house (Unfortunately, they’re still sitting on the ground in front of my house waiting on me to move them to the dumpster). Saturday Rick and dad replaced the damaged decking boards and dad and I rolled about 1/2 of it with felt. We actually managed to get a few rows of shingles on too. Sunday we finished putting on the shingles on the main portion of the east roof, leaving us with everything over the garage on Monday. We finally made it off the roof just after dark. I’m so happy that it’s done and we are sooooo ready for a break. We still need to calk around a few places, but for the most part I think we’re considering this phase of construction DONE.![]()

Pumpkin Patch and Circus
In and amongst all the construction we have managed to do a few things that make me feel like we have a normal life. I took off part of a day at the begining of October to take Kris on her field trip to the Apple Orchard and Pumpkin Patch and last weekend we quit working on the roof early one day so that we could take Kris to the circus. Pictures from these two things have been added to the Gallery.
